Still the ugliest app logo in app store history

Great program, highly versatile. For how well designed it is you would think they would have trashed this logo for a new one a long time ago.

what a pity, no asian language versions

This software is more worth than the money I expand on it, which changes my way of thinking. I give four star because there is no chinese, japanese and korean versions. This great software should be spread and let more and more people to know and use.

Writing with Scrivener

Having used Scrivener over the last couple of years, it changed my writing in a very positive way. A very powerful tool revealed as you use it. A learning curve is required and worth it, this software will lead you in its very subtile tools. I recommand it for all those of you who write, read, take notes.

Outstanding app

I started to use it extensively to organize my book project, and I must say that it completely blew my mind. It’s slick, well-thought, lightweight, and really stable. There are tons of customization available to create your own workflow, and various options to tweak. This is an innovative approach to writing. Thanks to the authors, this software is a must-have for all your writing projects!

Not great for non English writers

I use it as a binder only now. But even that is a bit of a bother. Too many features, too heavy. Exporting is a pain since non English publishers use different format. Even the composition mode has better alternative. No Antidote integration is a bit of a problem too. Only the document statistics remain as an important feature for me.

Hugely helpful app!

Excellent app that really helps with the writing process. I’ve been using it for several years and it has become an integral part of my workflow. There are a lot of featues, but the program is useful without having to learn them all - use what you need and ignore the rest.

Excellent for writing projects from start to finish

Love this piece of writing software. There is a lot to it which may be intimidating if you try to take it in all at once but download the pdf manual and slowly add features as you need them. There are also numerous Youtube video instructions available which I find very helpful. My favorite way to outline is by using the index cards. I write a synopsis on each card adding, removing and reordering until my outline is complete. Then I can just open each card and write that section of the story. Recently, I found out about using Hoist Binder (under Documents in the menu bar) to hide all but the folder I’m working in so I can hide all of my character, location and research folders and just concentrate on the manuscript itself when I’m ready to start fleshing out my story. Unhoist to bring them back. These are just a couple of simple features that make Scrivener a favourite for writers of all stripes and I highly recommend it!

Great writing program but not for researchers or editors

The double editing window platform, stemming back to Vannevar Bush’s Memex, is fundamentally spot on, and the program overall is fast and reliable — and powerful. Being able to load and manipulate PDFs quickly a major bonus. Where it is stunningly weak is in the document linking function. Linking is a major function of any serious document management program and that this isn’t a right mouse button click away but rather buried in the pull-down menus is a major inconvenience. The problem doesn’t end there: any section of a document you want to make a link to — say a key paragraph in a research (ie. PDF) document — requires that you copy the text of interest, paste it into an editing document, and then manually link that pasted text back to the document from which it came. Seriously? Then, any section of text you have copied and made into a link (viz. back to a source document) doesn’t then take you back to the exact location when you click on the link but instead just calls up the document that you then have to manually search for the location and context in which the copied text was originally found -- a deal breaker for serious users, such as researchers and graduate students, who should look to another product if they need an easy way to catalog key document sections for later retrieval.

Amazing software!

Often, I have to write long documents and change the their organisation. There is nothing invented that can beat Scrivener. Forget about writing with Word, Pages etc.

Perfect!

If you write sth more complicated then 1 page article it is perfect tool.

Great tool for the job

Used it for writing technical documentation, will not use Word/LibreOffice/Pages again.

Great day-to-day tool for writers

The best writing tool I have ever used. It offers a number of suprising capabilities and functions. Great for big writing projects. The basics are quite easy to learn, and there is much more as you get acquainted with the interface and "hidden” functionalities.

It crashes all the time

When I try to add the a website to Research folder, Scrivener is crashing. The program is crashing all the time with almost every website I’m trying to add to Reasearch folder. Before that it was a fantastic program. Now it is unusable for me.

Great !!!

Grear for writing academic projects, where u have to use lots of information. Only one thing, I really need to work with pdf files opened in app - highlight, make notes, however all these functions are not available(

Hey, it’s 2015 now, it’s time to improve your look

Hi, I really like the functionality of the app, but, comon, it’s time to adapt to current trends in usability and design. Look at how modern research apps look like: ReadCube, Papers. You should move forward.

Great app, but needs some bugfixing

I really fell in love with the previous version of the app. Lots of functionality and it almost never crashed in 3 years that I used it. The latest version looks smooth and well designed. But it works slower on my 2011 MacBook. And there are some delays when making snapshots (which is not a big deal. Its just the previous version did not have them at all). The app also occasionally crashes (once again, it is the comparison with the previous version that makes it noticeable). Otherwise, an excellent app for writing manuscripts and I highly recommend it to my colleagues.

Only English version

please italian and german version

very good

Very good app, but I bought it, thinking that soon could have the italian version….

Missing Italian translation

Great program, but as I wrote in the title, is devoid of the Italian language. I hope you can provide the translation. Thanks!
