The concept is great but tough to follow once you begin using it. I may be a slow learner because I have been attempting to write a story for the last 3 years. Scrivener has damaged atleast 3 times. information has been lost several times and I am hesitant to begin again. I hope things improve.

I’m both a software developer and a writer. Over the years I’ve debated whether I should suffer with tools that do too much/ too little or go write something better. I have my answer. I could never envision a better tool than Scrivener. It’s like they opened my head and pulled out every wish I ever had for my perfect novel writing tool. It’s been a long time since I was so enamoured by a software application. I tossed any notion of writing my own tool into my mental shredder and I’ve never looked back. Because I jumped into the luxury car of the writing world and stomped the pedal. Thank you Scrivener team for reminding me how much joy a well-crafted product can bring to my life!

I had an idea I was getting quality software when I was researching this. I was using iBooks Author and let me tell you…….. I might be the happiest person in my city right now. It is so vastly superior to iBooks Author it cannot be put into words very easily. This software was intelligently thought out and you could tell some real care went into it. I have not found a single gripe with it, I did not even need the tutorial, I am 30+ pages into my first book on the first day using this software. Can arrange chapters and add new ones if i forget, unlike iBooks Author. I can actually put a preface that isn’t titled “Chapter 1", unlike iBooks author. It even has a setting where you can map out what buttons you want on your main toolbar. What an incredibly clutch piece of software, props to Literature and Latte for a fine product.

This app works good but it appears to only be able to sync with Iphone. I would rather use it between different computers but so far I haven’t been able to figure out how. I really don’t want to give up on it it costs a lot of money. I guess next I will try saving the files to Dropbox and opening them one by one. Really that’s not syncing but that is what it is on Apple products I guess.

I thought this was a really good app until it managed to delete half my manuscript. I did nothing more than to add my project to the app and sync it through Dropbox. Until they build in an absolute firewall that prevents it from wiping out text in your desktop file this app should NOT be on the market. Too bad, but the risk is not worth it. Thank heavens I was able to go back to a backup file that still had the text from two days before. Had I happened to have worked differently on my manuscript I might have lost far more work than I did.

I love Scrivener! It’s flexible enough for small, easy typing, yet robust enough for complicated file management with a reference database. I use it for a lot of my books and TV projects, but the biggest help has been with my joke database. As a standup comedian, Scrivener allows me to create a complex filing system for all my jokes, complete with tags, notes, keywords, and easily compiled folders. It keeps me organized and makes searching a breeze. I totally recommend this app for any of your writing projects! I’m eagerly awaiting the rumored iPad version to help make it more flexible across platforms, though there are already a few simple work arounds with dropbox and text documents.

I am a writer and a genealogist. I purchased Scrivener, because I was interested in its index card “Corkboard” view for organizing my information. As I worked my way through the tutorial, I realized that this is a much more powerful tool for organizing enormous amounts of data than I had realized. The Collections function is a fabulous way of putting together information for analysis. For example, in my genealogy files I can create a collection of all of my notes dealing with families who can be found in Stafford County, Virginia and another for those found in Fauquier County, Virginia. Before I had to choose between organizing by surname or by place, now I can have the best of both worlds. By doing a search, I can create a collect that puts together all of my To Do lists, or for all parts of my writing with a status of Rough Draft to remind myself of what still needs reworking. The split screen view alows me to compare drafts, or easily cut or copy and paste from one document to another. And there’s so much more. This is now my favorite computer app of all time! Thank you Literature & Latte for making my work so much easier to manage.

Gone is file clutter! All my screenwriting tools from start to finish. I wish I would have had this in college to write papers.

I bought this on the recommendation of a screenwriter friend of mine and I am so glad I did! It is extremely useful for collecting and organizing ones research, notes, and ideas, and it inspires me to write every day. I so am grateful to the developer for creating this app! It’s my new favorite writing partner.

At first I used it for writing practice, which I think is what most people use it for. But now I seem to use it for everything! I have a project that has my college application information and essays organized, one for a physics course I’m putting together, even one I call “Master HQ” that basically is my life in a file. I recommend it over all other organization software (of which I have tried many). It may seem overwhelming at first, but once you get used to it, you can’t imagine not having it.

Don’t be fooled by the screenshots. Scrivener is an amazing writing app. The screenshots make it look bloated and tacky, but it’s not. It’s one of the most beautiful, perfect applicaitons I’ve ever had the privelage of using. I’ve used it to format a stage play I wrote and now I’m using it for a novel. It’s perfect for my needs because it’s really adaptable to how I like to work. :)

I use it every year for NaNoWriMo as well as other projects. It helps keep my ideas, characters, settings, plot points, organized. Couldn’t write without it.

I’ve been using Scrivener for a couple of months now, and I’m very impressed. I haven’t run into any of the crash problems that a few reviewers have reported. I’m using Scrivener on an early 2014 Macbook Air with OS X Yosemite beta 5, although I was still running Mavericks when I first started using this app - I haven’t had any difficulties with it under either OS version. The functionality Scrivener provides is truly amazing - I can’t imagine anything else to wish for at the moment. I started to call Scrivener a writing tool, but that doesn’t do it justice - it’s really a large collection of tools for organizing research, printing, exporting manuscripts, and a lot more. After using Scrivener, it’s tough to imagine having to do all that manually, with a typewriter, notepad, and file folders. If you have writing projects to tackle, do yourself a favor and give Scrivener a try. At $45, it’s quite a bargain - and I predict you won’t be sorry.

As a budding writer I need software that’s easy to use, and I definitely found it with Scrivener. Worht every penny as far as I’m concerned. Thanks!!

Scrivener is everything I’d hoped for it to be before purchasing it. For many, the price may be deterring. Fear not, it is worth every penny (if not many, many more). If you want an application that allows you to arrange, outline, and write novels, shorter essays/theses papers, notes, and a multitude of other things, Scrivener is the perfect match for your needs. There are myriad features, and I’d definitely encourage you to read the initial guide upon purchase. Once you know how to use it, you’ll make great use of Scrivener. Overall, you’ll know exactly what I mean once you’ve tried this great application.

I LOVE this program! It is amazing! I believe it is worth the price for all of the features you get with the program. I write a lot, and write in various formats, articles, books, etc. I use this program for everything. I do a lot of research and have found this program to be extrememly useful for that purpose, along with writing a novel, and have found it sufficient to write basic news articles in. I like how I am able to keep everything together, but at the same time, I am able to separate things if needed, while keeping them in the same document. I highly recommend this program to everyone, whether a writer, student, college student, graduate student, etc. There are a million uses for this program!

I am not a writer in the professional sense but I use Scrivener to write complex reports for work. The program is powerful but yet easy to use. Well worth the price!

It keeps craashing. WHile it is the perfect software for writers, nothing irritates more than a constant crash

This is by far the most useful writing program I’ve encountered across any platform. I used this to collect, create, track and modify essays and applications for medical school, and as a medical student I continue to use it for academic papers and research. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a comprehensive word processor/writing program where larger projects or complex tasks make the usual MS Word or Apple Pages cumbersome. This will greatly enhance your organization and writing efficiency.

Really helps the writing process, especially if you need help bringining lots of pieces together and getting them organized.
