Now I know what the fuss is about!
As a creative writer, I found myself confused and disoriented by most of the other offerings in the App Store. All I wanted was something geared toward what was considered writing before the age of blogs, markdown and "short form" writing.
But what I found were me-too apps that had slick marketing departments. Those apps relied mostly on keywords and pseudo-innovation to gain attention for what are ultimately simple tools geared toward people writing blogs. (See: iA Writer and Ulysses)
I wanted tools that go above and beyond the tried-and-true wordprocessors weve had at our disposale for decades. I wanted something to help me create art and organize essays.
Just a couple of days in, after having never used Scrivener, I can already tell that this is a mature application. After evaluating their file format and Dropbox utilization, I feel quite comfortable diving in to do some heavy writing.
